A Weekend in Chicago

LondonHouse Chicago Hotel Review
A few weeks ago, I finally got around to going to visit one of my best friends, who has lived in Chicago for the past three years, during which time I have literally not been to visit even once. So we planned a trip, I booked a ticket and finally, I flew my sorry self on out there to have ourselves a weekend visit.

Park Hyatt Maldives, Hadahaa: Part I

park hyatt maldives hadahaa review photos hyatt gold platinum diamond member free nights
We recently returned from a dream of a trip to the Maldives, during which we were incredibly fortunate to be hosted by the Park Hyatt Maldives, Hadahaa. The entire experience was absolutely unforgettable - words simply fail when tasked with conveying the beauty that was so vividly present all around us, so this post (and the ones that will follow) are going to be quite photograph heavy...but I'm sure you won't mind ;)

The Ahau, Tulum

ahau tulum hotel review beach front junior suite
Tulum is a paradisaical, bohemian slice of the Mexican Riviera just south of Cancun that is frequented by some of the best known travel, lifestyle and fashion bloggers around, as well as by people from all walks of life seeking solace in the the jungle and the sea. While full-service luxury is one way to do Mexico, I personally prefer an unplugged, rustic, eco-luxury atmosphere with seamless transitions between the outdoors and indoors, the scent of salty sea air wafting through my room and dreamy, breezy, white curtains kissing the air in the breeze. And of course, unbeatable cuisine. For this atmosphere, my abode of choice is The Ahau, Tulum...

Tulum: Cenote Dos Ojos

I have to start this off by saying that my experience at Dos Ojos Cenote was hands down, unequivocally the most literally awesome (in the original and truest sense of the word) experience of my life.

These two freshwater, sinkholes swallowed up in cool, cavernous sedimentary rock, hidden away from the world, are absolutely other-worldly, and the experience of plunging into the crystal clear blue and being the only soul dipping and diving through such gorgeous water was nothing other than sublime.

Villa Porro Pirelli

When I was a little girl, there was an advertisement in Town & Country magazine of a Maserati Granturismo pulling into the long, pebbled, Cypress-lined driveway of a rambling villa tucked away in the Italian hills...ever since then, I've always dreamed of hiding away in a villa just like that one, and just a short while ago, I got to do just that!

Villa Porro Pirelli is an 18th century Italian villa nestled into the hills outside of Varese that's been converted to a little luxury hotel.

Arriving in Tulum

For our anniversary this year, we decided we would try to get out of town for a few days...and our originally modest plans eventually somehow turned into a five day escape to Tulum, Mexico, which in retrospect was the. best. decision. EVER.

Bello Bellagio

Bellagio is a tiny town that cascades from higher mountainous areas directly down to the edge of Lago di Como. It is known as the Pearl of Lake Como, for reasons that are obvious...it has been renowned for its incredibly beauty since Roman times! It's the perfect day trip if you're staying in one of the famed hotels in the larger nearby town of Como, and it is easily accessible by the ferry network connecting towns on the lake or by rented motor boat!
