NARS Liquid Blushes + Orgasm Collection | Review, Swatches

NARS Liquid Blushes Torrid Luster Dolce Vita Orgasm Collection Review Swatches

For summer, NARS continues its pattern of exciting launches with an all new Liquid Blush ($30 for 0.5 oz.) release! There are four classic shades in the initial line-up (hopefully more will come in the future), all of which have outstanding pigmentation, a really beautiful unique texture and great blendability. These have been so popular that they are selling out, and I suspect it's because of how great the product is! Since they're permanent, they will be getting restocked, so if a colour you want is sold out there's no need to worry ;)

NARS is also promoting it's cult favourite orgasm products in the Orgasm Collection (Nordstrom here) with a special, limited edition Orgasm powder blush that says NARS Orgasm on the front of the case. I've rounded up most of the Orgasm products (except the illuminator) and included them in the swatches below for you to see comparisons. My picks are the liquid blush, the multiple and the lipstick! I can't believe I haven't discovered the lipstick before...it's so so beautiful. I'm wearing it in all the various looks below, and I'm sure you'll agree its the prettiest tawny rose gold hue. Perfect for summer!

Anyway, back to those beautiful Liquid Blushes. The current colours available are:

  • Luster: warm peachy orange
  • Orgasm: warm medium pink with subtle flecks of gold shimmer
  • Torrid: strong orangey-pink coral
  • Dolce Vita: medium deep, grape-ruby
The formula is really fantastic and interesting: when you pump the product onto the back of your hand, it is a runny liquid, however, it's super super pigmented. I used one full pump for each of the swatches below, and it created an almost completely opaque swatch for each of the various shades.

When applying to the cheeks, I pump out at most one drop for Torrid and Dolce Vita and at most two drops for Luster and Orgasm onto the back of my hand. If I do more than that, then I end up wasting product because it only takes that very small amount to get a visible, natural flush on both cheeks. I then use my middle or ring finger and dab it into the product and then do three to four dabs on each cheek...three for the two darker shades and four for the lighter ones. Then I use either my finger or a stippling brush to blend out. Both are equally effective, but with a stippling brush you don't get your finger dirty. Blendability is excellent, although they do begin to set and become more difficult if you leave the dabs on your skin unblended for more than thirty seconds, so I recommend either working quickly or doing one cheek at a time. I don't have an issue as long as I work quickly, so I do both cheeks at the same time. There is 0.5 oz. of product, so these are going to last you a really long time. I use one half a pump of foundation every day, and a bottle lasts me 6 months, so at a rate of one drop of blush and not every day since I rotate around my collection, I have no clue but I bet these will last most people 2-3 years.

As you can see above, the various shades of NARS' Orgasm products are full of lustrous, pinky-gold perfection...I'm in LOVE with the lipstick. It reminds me of Tom Ford's Spanish Flame but with a more luminous finish, whereas TF is more matte-metallic. It's quickly becoming a favourite in my rotation and at $28 for 0.12 oz., it's a helluva lot cheaper than TF!

Below are looks with each of the Liquid blushes - I've placed them next to one another so you can see the subtle variations on the cheeks between the different hues. Luster and Dolce Vita are my favourite, but that's mainly because they are more unique colours in my collection. In reality, I love them all! Torrid would be my favourite probably if I didn't own many similarly coloured blushes (because bright, reddish corals are one of my fave colours to wear).

For the blushes on a darker more olive skintone, see Sabrina of The Beauty Lookbook's review here.

The last pair of looks is a comparison of NARS Orgasm powdered blush and liquid blush...the powder blush has more overt gold shimmer and looks more noticeable as product on the cheeks (IMO), whereas the liquid looks more like your skin is naturally blushing and glowing.

I highly recommend the NARS Liquid Blushes ($30 for 0.5 oz.) to anyone who loves blush and loves a natural-looking, healthy, glowing flush to their cheeks! It is so so easy to use, and I think that they are a great value for the quality and amount of product that you get. The two lighter colours are fool proof, whereas the darker ones can be overdone more easily because of the brightness of the colour. But once you figure out how many dabs provide a suitable flush for your cheeks (use my guidelines above!), they are all a pleasure to use and look so beautiful once applied and blended! Since they're sold out in so many places, I'd check your local Sephora if you want to get ahold of a sold out colour immediately. But again, these are permanent, so they will get restocked eventually :)

  1. Wow, that Orgasm Lipstick looks great on you! I got a free mini tube from Sephora, and the color is a bust --it's this very sheer frosty peachy pink shade, looks horrid on me, unfortunately. But the blushes look pretty -will check out them out next time I'm in store (Katherine T.)

    1. Yes I looove the Orgasm lipstick - it's hilarious to me that I'm only just trying it because it's been around for so long. It's one of those things I always just walked by and didn't really think to try on. You should definitely try the blushes even if lipstick didn't work for you bc they are sooo pretty...and several of them seem universally flattering! xx Georgia Grace

  2. Thank you so much for your awesome reviews! It became my favorite blog since I discovered 2 years ago. I really love the look of blushes because I'm obsessed with the natural healthy glowing blushed skin look. I think these products they'll help me to achieve it. It's hard to choose 2 of them but I think they might be Luster and Torrid.

    1. Thank you - you are so kind! These blushes are definitely very very natural looking and sooo gorgeous on the skin - if you like warm tones and usually wear a lot of corals, then I think Luster and Torrid are definitely your best bets! Let me know how they work for you! xx Georgia Grace
