Everlane Bridge Sandal | Review

Summer is here in it's full, glorious, heated force, and in this sort of weather, sandals are all you wanna wear. And with Everlane's new Bridge Sandal ($88), you can end your hunt for a classic, elegant, versatile, all-purpose summer sandal. Crafted of the usual incredibly high quality, Italian leather, available in five summery, timeless hues, and priced well below a Benjamin...this is a sandal that doesn't take much convincing to get my stamp of approval.

I've got the Bridge Sandal in the Natural shade, which is crafted from raw, undyed leather that's been finished so as to preserve the slightly mottled nature of the hide from which it's been cut. I love the soft, earthy ochre shade, and I didn't think about this at the time, but they basically function the same way nude heels do and give the legs a really really pretty lengthening effect (which as a 5'2" person, I am not complaining about at all). Also, I took my usual size 6, and they're a perfect fit!

The "bridge" detail that connects the two horizontal straps of leather on the Bridge Sandal is one of those little details that takes the design from basic to something that feels a little more special. I love that even though it's a flat shoe, the design does everything possible to ensure that the legs are flattered and lengthened. Even taking the nude colour out of the picture, the design doesn't make my legs look stumpy at all like certain popular styles of sandals do (ahem gladiator).

And lastly, there's the versatility...to be fair, most of Everlane's shoes are really versatile, but that's not gonna stop me from talking about it here. These look great with basically anything. Skirts, dresses, midi, mini, maxi, shorts, jeans, wide leg, skinny, culottes...oh ma gawsh. You get it. Also I am totally comfortable wearing these to the beach or to a cocktail event, no lie. If I had to come up with one aspect that could potentially be improved, it's that the sole is not cushioned at all, but that's a very small thing since they are super comfortable they way they already are.

Bottom line, the Bridge Sandals are a huge love for me. I prefer them to the Form Sandals, because I feel that they are more classic and elegant looking, and I feel that the Bridge Sandal is more flattering on me. However, the Form Sandals do win if you're only judging by comfort (and I know some people will prefer the Form's aesthetic over that of the Bridge Sandal). As far as flat shoes go, I will be wearing these a ton this summer...and I may end up picking up a pair in Surplus when it's all said and done, because that olive green is so dang pretty!

Many thanks to Everlane for providing the Bridge Sandal for consideration and review. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
