Everlane Heel Boot: The Perfect Heeled Bootie for Fall

The Everlane Heel Boot ($235) is THE PERFECT heeled bootie for fall. Hands down. No contest. Now in Suede also!

Immediately when I first saw the photos of the Heel Boot under the "Coming Soon" section of Everlane's website, I knew that it was going to be epic and perfect in every way imaginable. Not exaggerating in the slightest. And turns out, I was right - a self call I have no issue making.

The profile of the boot is perfect - the stretchy elastic that allows it to slip on easily, the tapered silhouette toward the top so that it hugs the ankle in a flattering way that allows it to slip under skinny jeans or to look polished and perfect with cropped pants or dresses and skirts. But the real piece de resistance here is the heel. Oh you guys, I could go on and on about heel heights for forever. But suffice it to say, that there is a huge dearth of booties with 2-2.5 inch heels! And I cannot for the life of me figure out why. Thankfully, designers seem to have realized the idiocy of ignoring this perfect heel height when it comes to normal pumps, and there have been a slew of mid-heel options recently. I can only hope more designers take the cue with booties as Everlane has.

Basically, most booties either have 0.5-1" heel options or 3" heel options. For me, the first one is nice for a casual look, but the low height doesn't do that much in the way of flattering the legs. But 3" is just a little bit too high for true comfort and walkability for me unless it's a wedge. Don't get me wrong, I can do 3" just fine and get along through a day of walking in the city. But it's never going to be the case that I can just walk around in 3" heels and "never notice" my shoes because they're so comfortable. But 2"? Oh my friends...2" is PERFECT. It gives you that height for the flattering and leggy look, but it's low enough to be in the realm of real, actual, all-day comfort for the wearer.

I requested a size 6, my normal size, from Everlane, and they fit perfectly. I chose black, because it's classic and goes with everything, but the Cognac colour is beautiful too. The leather is soft and pliable yet structured when you slip 'em on. They are very comfortable almost immediately, but they may take a few wears before being broken in enough for full comfort, especially around the area where the top of the shoe touches the front of your leg. This is pretty normal though. There is enough room that I can manage a pair of thin stockings with continued comfort, but if you're gonna want to wear thick socks, I'd recommend going a half size up.

Basically, if you're looking for the perfect, the one-and-only bootie solemate (see what I did there ;) for fall, then plz stop now and buy the Heel Boot. It is literally. perfect. *mic drop* And now they're available in Suede also...I can't...

  1. What a great pair of booties! And yes, I agree, 2 inch heel height is great, any less doesn't do my petite height much favors, and any more, means my feet are going to feel it. Great find! (Katherine T.)
